Every service that exists within health and social care belongs to one of four types of provision ie. Statutory, voluntary (third sector), private or informal. Within each of these there are specific category areas such as new born to elderly, mental health to learning disabilities, plus there are many more variation of different areas of Health & Social Care. A range of diplomas, awards and certificates qualifications have been developed for the Health and Social Care sector that can be used to demonstrate knowledge or competence as well as continuing professional development. These qualifications, have been developed by Skills for Health and Skills for Care, there are a wide range of qualifications with built-in flexibility to suit all fields of health and social care. They are the main qualifications required by the Quality Care Commission in England and OFSTED. The qualifications allow learners to tailor their learning needs to their actual job role and these qualification are made up of mandatory and optional units.
